Stupid Criminals

OA Online News: Police arrest two suspects in attempted gun shop robbery. In case anyone reading this has never been in a gun store, the employees/owners of gun stores are usually armed. This makes it generally a bad idea to try and rob them. (And I don't just mean they have guns in the nice glass cases... they have guns on their hips.)

These two geniuses tried to rob a gun store using pepper spray.
Police have arrested two suspects in Tuesday’s failed robbery attempt at Gun Sport Ltd. According to an OPD news release, two men entered the store Tuesday afternoon, and one pepper sprayed an employee.

The employee, whose name was being withheld, managed to keep one of the men from leaving the store by holding a gun on him, according to Sgt. Bob Forbus.
And a note to anyone who thinks pepper spray is a good defense... even after being sprayed with pepper spray, the employee managed to pull a weapon and keep the would-be robber covered.

The owner of Gun Sport Ltd., Jon Thomas, had a great take on the robbery:
“Gun shops, by and large, aren’t targets because we have guns,” he said. “It’s like someone trying to rob a snake farm.”
If the criminal had been shot, he would have been a shoe-in for a Darwin award. [Hat tip John Lott]
