But It Is Against the Law to Carry Weapons in Church

Five dead after church shooting - Yahoo! News    The state of Louisiana is one of many states that believes self-defense has no place in a church. That doesn't mean, of course, that crime won't come looking for you there.

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - A man shot and killed at least four people in a Louisiana church on Sunday morning before kidnapping his three children and estranged wife, who was later found dead, media reports said.
People who are being stalked need to be able to defend themselves when they are on a known schedule at known locations: to-and-from work, picking-up and dropping-off kids at school and daycare, to-and-from religious services.

Making concealed carry off limits in this church, guaranteed that anyone who went to this woman's aid would be be facing overwhelming fire-power, with nothing but bare hands and courage. Four people died - it doesn't say that they went to her aid, but whatever the circumstances, they were all disarmed. Creating a disarmed-victim zone only protected the murderer in this case.

Although he kidnapped her, and drove away from the church with her, she was later found dead in his car.

No one knows what the outcome would have been had even one member of that congregation been armed. We only know what happened given that they were all disarmed by the state.
