- The 13-year-old had access to the gun (no lock/no safe)
- The 13-year-old (apparently) had no training in safe gun handling
Don't act like adults and the bleeding hearts will mandate the guns are disassembled - as they do in Australia - or whatever measure they dream up.
An employee at the Port City Pistol Club, 4250 Airline Road, who didn't want to be named, said: "If you have kids, it's the parents responsibility to store the guns.Gun locks are mostly a joke. The right safe can keep kids away from the guns, and still give you access in an emergency.
"A gun lock can be great but they can be defeated by an ingenious child, that's why I tell people they are better off with a safe," he said. "A safe can be used to keep the guns from getting stolen, but it can also keep kids from gaining access to them."
People this isn't just a legal or a civil responsibility. Adults have a moral responsibility to keep kids safe.
