2005 FBI Uniform Crime Report - Justifiable Homicides, Private Citizen
If it saves only one life.... Strange how the Left never brings its mantra to bear on the subject of justifiable homicide.
These statistics are misleading, because they only count cases where the attacker was killed. Not where the goblin was scared off and ran like a rabbit, not where they were injured - only where they were killed. Still it is the best statistic I have found so far. Expanded Homicide Data Table 14 - Crime in the United States 2005
In 2005 there were 192 justifiable homicides by a private citizen. This is as opposed to a law enforcement officers - who carried out 341 justifiable homicides.
Of the justifiable homicides carried out by private citizens, 143 were carried out with a firearm. 119 people defended themselves with a handgun, 5 used rifles, 6 shotguns, and in 13 cases they used an unspecifed type of firearm.
So since it saved more than one life, the Left must be all excited about these 143 lives saved. Right.
