Self-defense Works in Seattle

Man fatally shot in front of Westlake Center What is really surprising is that the people of Seattle didn't act like rabbits - not all of them anyway.
some moved in closer in to help.
A guy gets assaulted out-of-the-blue. He fires one shot, which puts his attacker down. The goblin died later at the hospital.
Police said the two men did not know each other and that the man who fired the shot was acting in self defense.
The story says "the gun was legally registered," but what I think they mean is that the victim had a valid concealed carry permit. And there is no "duty to retreat" in Washington state - there never has been.
