Police say that 22 year old Walter D Hatton of Jonesboro kicked in the door of Ray Horton's home early yesterday morning.

Hatton fired a shot at Horton, who was in bed, but missed. Police say the two struggled, and the homeowner hit Hatton in the head with the barrel of a shotgun.

Yes folks, it is necessary to aim a shotgun.

Anyway Hatton ran down the street where he was captured by police a short time later.

At a court hearing yesterday, Craighead County District Judge Keith Blackman found probable cause to charge Hatton with criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, residential burglary and felon in possession of a firearm.

The bad guy is in jail awaiting his day in court. ("Innocent until proved guilty" and all that.)
