Self-defense Legal in South Carolina

Charges not likely in fatal Greer shooting | Spartanburg, S.C. The presumed bad-guy tried to rob the wrong store that day.
According to the sheriff's office, the suspect entered the convenience store, pointed a gun at clerk Mirabhai Jesai and demanded money. Jesai retrieved his gun and fired multiple shots at the intruder, who ran from the store. Officers who arrived on the scene weren't able to find the robber.
What they did find, a short time later, was a dead guy with a single gunshot wound to the chest. They think it is the robber, but they are still investigating. The description of the guy fits the description of the robber, and
Beside the body, officers also found a revolver thought to be the one used in the robbery.
The police don't expect the clerk to face charges. Self-defense is both a human right and your legal right.
