Surveillance State Moves Forward

Congress Passes Extension of Surveillance Law - washingtonpost.com While everyone was concentrating on the Florida primary election, Congress was off solidifying the Brave New World that we live in. (G.W. as Big Brother?)
The House and Senate yesterday approved a 15-day extension of an expiring intelligence surveillance law
The Bush administration wants to keep people from suing the phone companies. And other things I am sure.

There has been much in the press lately about Bush and "his legacy." I think the biggest thing he will be remembered for is the implementation of universal surveillance. Not that it started with him - Clinton signed off on a little thing call Eschelon (or was it Carnivore).
