“Two people came to that apartment and apparently brought weapons with them,” [Lt. D. Moody, spokesman for the Conway Police Department] said in an interview. “The four inside the apartment” struggled with them “and took the weapons away from those two.” Moody said that, from what he understood, Calvin and Doss were killed with their own guns. He did not know the types of guns used. The anti-self-defense crowd will cry that someone should be charged with a crime, but I feel that this is just self-defense. (Did the bad guys run away when confronted?)
For a disturbing view of the 'justice system' consider this.
Dina Tyler, a spokesman for the Arkansas Department of Correction, said .... Calvin entered prison on a six-year sentence on Jan. 10, 2006, for a drug conviction and for second-degree escape. In November 2006, he was released on parole but was sent back to prison for failure to report to his parole officers. He got out twice more, the last time Feb. 21 of this year.So much for keeping dangerous criminals off the street.
I would say that the people in that apartment had the attitude where they refused to be victims. That attitude matters.
