Radio Iowa: Pizza delivery driver shoots man who tried to rob him Armed self-defense does work.
The unidentified delivery man was taking a pizza to the second floor of an apartment building about 10:40 last night when he says a man with a gun tried to rob him.The goblin was taken to the hospital and will be charged with first degree robbery. The goblin's girlfriend will be charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.
The delivery man told police he pulled his own gun and fired, hitting the would-be robber.
The pizza delivery guy was not charged. I don't know what form of the Castle Doctrine they have in Iowa, but I would be surprised if he were charged with anything. Self-defense is a human right.
Update via John Lott: It seems the bad guys may have scored one point after all. But Pizza Hut doesn't like self-defense. Pizza Hut, the pizza company in question, doesn't like their drivers to defend themselves. Update: Arrest made in pizza shooting | The Des Moines Register Pizza Hut is happier when every one of their employees is a defenseless victim. They have suspended the guy from his job.
Vonnie Walbert, vice president of human resources at Pizza Hut, said:Yeah, it makes the thieves very safe.
“We have policy against carrying weapons. We prohibit employees from carrying guns because we believe that that is the safest for everybody.”
Time to let Pizza Hut know you won't be buying any more pizzas from them.
