Armed Store Owner Foils Robbery

Police grudgingly admit that self-defense and defense of others is legal. They believe you should cooperate.

In most cases, [Police Lt. Rick Edwards] said, store clerks facing an armed robber have the legal right to defend themselves or others if they fear for their safety.

"You have a right to defend yourself, but we're not encouraging anyone to fire shots at people," Edwards said.

Two of three suspects were arrested about 10 minutes after this attempted robbery at a local hospital - one guy had been shot. The 3rd guy is being sought.
