Can you wait 9 minutes?

GPD struggles with response time Greensboro, North Carolina has a problem meeting its goals. The goal: Police respond to 80% of priority 1 calls to 911 within 6 minutes. The reality: less than 40% fall in that time frame. Average response is 9 minutes. Some people are waiting longer.

Six minutes is a long time if there is a goblin pounding on your apartment door. 9 minutes is an eternity. This of course assumes that you get the chance to call 911 before the crime.

This is the wonderful system that I am supposed to bet my life on? Not hardly. Call 911? Of course. But I will take other actions to ensure my safety.
