Police say the owner of a home at Floresta Drive and Surrey Street was taking a nap. Somone rang the doorbell, but the homeowner wasn't expecting anyone. And this being Florida, the neighbors are not shocked.
Police say the homeowner grabbed his gun and told his two young daughters and niece to hide in a back bedroom.
Detectives say the suspect hopped over the back fence and tried to break in through a sliding glass door. When the suspect went around to the kitchen to try to get in through a window, the homeowner shot him once in the chest.
"I think if somebody broke in here I'd try to do the same thing," says Christine Quagalia who lives two doors down from where the shooting took place. The goblin fled the scene and crashed his car a short distance away. He is in the hospital with serious injuries.
Self-defense is a human-right. Good Guys 1, Bad Guys 0.
