The talking heads on various news casts have been wondering how could 10 men cause so much damage? When no one has an opportunity to defend themselves, what do people think will happen?
This lesson was clear at the Beslan (Russia) attack on a school, and probably as far back as The Achille Lauro hijacking of 1985. But learning the lessons of history would mean that A) people actually paid attention to history, and B) the far Left gave up the idea that all will be well, if we only hold hands and sing Kumbaya.
The terrorist gang, thought to number as few as 10 gunmen, had planned to kill 5000 people and destroy the iconic Taj Mahal Palace hotel and the stock exchange. In the end, their murderous toll was closer to 200, and left the Taj Mahal and the Tident-Oberoi hotel badly charred and damaged. With instructions to attack several key sites, this handful of terrorists, from Pakistani controlled Kashmir, were able to wreak havoc on a major democracy for days.
I wonder if anyone will learn the lesson that this bit of history has to teach.
