Is Self-defense Legal in Massachusetts?

Liquor store clerk kills robber during hold up - Even in the People's Republic, self-defense works.
According to police, Rivera’s fatal last stand began when he and another masked man walked into Big Bob’s last night before 10.

One of the would-be robbers pointed a handgun directly at one of the two store clerks on duty at the store, said Worcester Police Sgt. Kerry Hazelhurst in a statement sent to the media.

One of the clerks then pulled out his own gun and shot Rivera, identified by police as the gunman, several times. The second would-be robber fled on foot, according to police.
Police are "still investigating" because letting the serfs defend themselves is not something like to do.

The bad guy who didn't get shot is still on the run.

Self-defense works, and even in MA it appears to be your legal right (provided you jump through all the required hoops).
