Self-defense Works

Retired HPD employee shoots alleged robbers at his home | Houston Chronicle Two miscreants attempt to steal a generator. When confronted they run back to their van.
"They then put their hands inside the van as if they were going to get weapons from there," [Police Department spokesman Victor] Senties said.

Fearing his life was in danger, the former employee fired at the men, striking one in the head and the other in the arm, Senties said.
The guy shot in the head is in the hospital in critical condition. The gun shot in the arm tried to get away, but was arrested later and taken to the hospital. No word on what charges will be laid, though it does sound like the retired cop was exercising his legal right to self-defense.
