Why the Emphasis on "Former Officer?"

NewsChannel - Nashville, Tennessee - Former Officer Shoots Murder Suspect Maybe they don't like the idea that just anyone can exercise the legal right of self-defense.
Investigators say two men attempted the robbery just as she had gotten out of the former officer's car.

The former officer got out and shot one man, but the other man ran away. Police say the former officer acted in self defense and will not face any charges.
He left the local force in 1982.

In addition to being a "former-officer" he was probably also a "former high-school-student," but you wouldn't care about that, would you? The Left just doesn't like the idea that anyone can defend themselves. (Have to rely on The State.)

Self-defense is a human right. Good Guys 1; Bad Guys 0.
