Neighbors Are Shocked

Well, "startled" is close to shocked, isn't it?

SDSU Student Shot and Killed South Dakota State University - people must think being close to the school means they are safe.
Brookings police say a homeowner shot and killed Bradley Joe Odens just before 2:00 this morning after he allegedly tried to force his way into a Brookings home.
Did force his way in actually, while breaking a window, and making threats.

Now he may have been "confused about where he was." I take that to mean he was intoxicated, but I could be wrong. Anyway, a homeowner has the right to defend himself and his family from intruders, and that is exactly what happened.

Oh, and the neighbor?
"It's very startling because you don't think of something like that happening here in Brookings," said Aaron Plauson who lives right behind the house where Odens was killed.
Apparently Brookings is the kind of place where the Real World™ never impinges on the inhabitants. Here is a clue... if you can read this (or are within the sound of my keyboard) you live in the real world, and in the real world bad things happen, especially to folks who break into other people's homes.
