Not His Best Effort

Have been reading the Dresden Files. I have found most of the series very entertaining. Not great literature, certainly, but still fun.

The latest edition is Turn Coat. Too much going on.

One of the joys of most series is that you don't really need to read them in order. The Vorkosigan series by Bujold wasn't even written in order. But this book has so many references to previous stories that it doesn't stand on its own. That isn't bad in and of itself, but there are so many subplots - most of which go wrong - and too much preparation for novels yet to come, that it hardly qualifies as an ending.

Maybe the next one will be better.
