He then turned himself in and admitted to the crime.

People get bent out of shape because someone dumped them/left them/divorced them. The end is the most dangerous time.

Mrs Cox had suffered years of domestic abuse at the hands of her husband prior to separating from him two weeks before the incident.

This kind of thing happens all too often.
