On the evening of December 22 2008, [the ex-husband] let himself into her Central Drive flat with a set of keys and hid in a cupboard under the stairs. He then turned himself in and admitted to the crime.
He emerged in the early hours of the morning when Mr McLoughlin [the new boyfriend -?- the relationship is not defined in the article] had left the property to get a cigarette lighter and bound and gagged Mrs Cox in the lounge. When Mr McLoughlin returned, he stabbed him 24 times before stabbing his wife in the throat. She received 15 stab wounds.
People get bent out of shape because someone dumped them/left them/divorced them. The end is the most dangerous time.
Mrs Cox had suffered years of domestic abuse at the hands of her husband prior to separating from him two weeks before the incident. This kind of thing happens all too often.
(Obligatory 2nd Amendment Slant:) Good thing the anti-gun laws in England are so effective; someone might have been shot.
