This guy was well known to police and was in lock-up until the 7th.
He had an extensive criminal history, Arnold said, including several charges of burglary, assault of police, trafficking and possession of cocaine. They got a call about a shooting at a home, and found this guy with a single gunshot wound to the chest. He died at the hospital.
Spratley had been in Metro Corrections for two weeks on charges of possession of a controlled substance, criminal mischief and fleeing and evading police before being released on Dec. 7
If you break in to enough homes, you will eventually find an armed resident.
The homeowner was treated for a minor (?) injury.
The DA will get all the info, but no one expects the "shooter" (i.e. the victim) to face charges, because self-defense is a human right.
