Not Everyone Can Run Away

So what is a man in a wheelchair supposed to do when two thugs get into his home? Homeowner kills home invasion suspect
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says 62-year-old Gary A. Wroblewski, who uses a wheelchair, answered a knock at the door of his home in the Silver Springs Shores area. The man at the door asked for some help with his car and when Wroblewski declined assistance the second suspect came through the door, wearing a mask and attacked him. Wroblewski had a handgun and fired at the men killing the second suspect.
Police are still looking for the other guy.

Not everyone can safely retreat fast enough to do any good. And cooperating with criminals is no guarantee of safety. So, if not for a firearm, what should this guy have done?

Self-defense is a human right.
