Useless Nitwits Actually Helping with the Slaughter

I would dearly love to know of 3 places where UN peacekeeping troops (not supported by US, Australia or NATO) actually manged to keep the peace. UN Troops Involved in More East Congo Slaughter

More death and destruction in the Congo. Too much to quote it all here - just go take a look.

But this reminded me of another episode of failure.
Earlier this year, the Congolese Army went on the offensive against some of those rebel groups, and the United Nations provided logistical support. But the offensive failed to wipe out the rebels, and human rights groups have said that the military operations spurred the massacre of civilians, including by the government troops who were getting United Nations help. [my emphasis]
There was another time that UN Peacekeepers provided logistical support to troops carrying out genocide. It was in Srebrenica. So yeah, if after more than 10 years, the UN hasn't figured out to NOT be part of the problem, I think peacekeeping should go away.

They aren't part of the solution; they are part of the problem. Since they've had ten years to try and figure out how to stop being part of the problem, I would say that it is time for them to just get out of the way.
