What if the Police Are Too Busy?

This is the story of a tragedy. Domestic violence. Disarmed victims (who are prosecuted for self-defense of any kind). Police too busy to respond. Police failed to help woman who dialled 999 twice before she was murdered - Telegraph Bludgeoned and butchered.

She called 999 (the UK version of 911) twice. No police were available to answer the call. Neighbors also called.
In total, police were rung four times from the flats in just 15 minutes but not one officer was deployed.
Domestic violence (she was killed by her ex-husband and an accomplice) was also not tracked by the cops. Though if no one is available...

In the end, they didn't send anyone til the next day.

Calling 911 (999 in the UK) is a fine thing, but if you think that will always solve your problems, you are sadly mistaken. It is not uncommon in large cities (on either side of The Pond) for police to be tied up at other 911 calls. You may be waiting quite some time before help arrives. Indeed, you may have to wait for the rest of your life.
