But He Cooperated

Doesn't giving criminals what they want guarantee safety? Iguess not. Man shot in East End robbery | Richmond Times-Dispatch
[The] victim was standing outside in the 2000 block of North 29th Street and was confronted by a man wielding a silver handgun and demanding money, Martin said.

When the victim gave the robber $50, the robber ordered him to the ground and fired a single shot before fleeing, [Richmond police Capt. David L.] Martin said.
He got shot in the arm. He's lucky he wasn't shot in the head.

Cooperating with criminals is a strategy. In some cases a poor one, in others it may work better. In some cases it is disastrous. (Women abducted from a public place, rarely survive; it is not good to cooperate with someone trying to get you into a vehicle.)

No strategy is perfect - there are no guarantees in this life.
