Guns as Art: The Fine Art of Engraving

Collectors Firearms is always an interesting place to do a little window-shopping. They never fail to have something that will please the artist in me. (This is a 1964 Browning 12 gauge shotgun, that can be yours for the low low price of $14,500.00 - more photos of this gun and others after the break.)

The truth is that guns used to be an expression of the people who made and owned them. Today's guns are mostly ugly by comparison.

All of these guns are out of my price range, but I do love the fine engraving.

Another view of the Browning.

The following 2 photos are of an antique French 16 gauge shotgun with percussion caps. I love the way the hammers are carved!

The 2 photos below are of a 1961 Merkel 303E 12 gauge over-and-under shotgun.
