Home Invaders Meet Armed Homeowner

With predictable results. 1 dead in Hamblen home invasion try Knoxville News Sentinel
When the knock came at his door Saturday morning, Scott Knight knew something wasn't right.

Knight grabbed a .22-caliber pistol before he went to the door. The gunfight that followed left one would-be robber dead and two more on the run, authorities said.

"Mr. Knight is to be commended for a job well done," Hamblen County Sheriff Esco Jarnagin said.
He knew something was wrong because the knock came at 1:30 AM.

The woman who knocked on the door died from gunshot wounds to the neck and chest. The two who drove away dropped their gun on the way out. Unfortunately police don't have a good description of the miscreants or their vehicle.
Knight and his wife, Penny, who works as a juvenile probation officer, appeared on CMT's "World's Strictest Parents" show in November 2009. They've taken in troublesome teenagers for the past nine years, putting them through daily chores and screening their social lives.
Self-defense is a human right.
