No One Remebers When a Republican is Asssinated

James A. Garfield was shot, July 2, 1881. He took more than 11 weeks to die.

He was succeeded by Chester A. Arthur who's principle claim to fame was as the answer to a trivia question in "Die Hard with a Vengeance."

Actually President Arthur's claim to fame was the removal of Federal troops from the South and thus the final descent of Jim Crow on the now "free" blacks.
