There Is Something Wrong In Detroit

When a - what to my eyes is a clear case of vigilantism - ends in a hung jury. Hung jury for Detroit homeowner who killed burglar
Authorities say Croff chased Silas to the next street, where they say the drunken burglar taunted Croff before Croff shot him.
To my mind, that doesn't say self-defense.

I guess the situation vis a vie crime in Detroit is so bad, that a "jury of his peers" couldn't see convicting him.

Still, if we replace the rule of law, and trial by jury, with vigilantism, I think we may be in trouble. Certainly the law-abiding folks in Detroit are in trouble.
