What Would We Do Without Researchers?

iPods and MP3 players 'linked to teenage deafness' - Telegraph Gee, ya think?
iPods, MP3 players and increased exposure to live music has led to a surge in hearing loss in teens, the American research suggested.
I expect that the Nanny State will now move to regulate iPods etc. Limiting them by age, limiting how loud they can be, whatever. Because of course it is the governments job to protect us from ourselves. (And we couldn't expect parents to take these things away from their kids, now could we.)

It doesn't say where the money for this research came from, only where one of the researchers works, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, but if I had to guess, I would say that some of my tax dollars were mixed in that funding.

Next - scientists will go on to document that attending live, rock concerts can result in being exposed to loud music, looking directly at the sun can affect your eyesight, and careless use of fire can result in serious burns.
