Another Reason I Wish I Was In San Francisco This Weekend

Paxton Quigley is speaking at the Gun Rights Policy Conference. Self-defense expert promotes guns for women | San Francisco Examiner
Paxton Quigley, the New York City-based authority on women’s self-defense, will be speaking about the importance of women owning guns at the 25th annual Gun Rights Policy Conference taking place at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport hotel this weekend.
Her 1993 book, Armed and Femalewas the first book on self-defense which had been written by a woman that I had read. The anti-gun crowd was still arguing that women were too stupid to understand guns, or gun advertising. They were upset that gun manufacturers were building firearms specifically for women and advertising to women. It took them some to realize that they were being incredibly insulting. ("Women and Guns" was only first published in 1989 and only made it to the newsstand in 1991, the same year Thelma and Louise was released.)
