The Right is painting everyone on the Left as a Communist (they want big government to destroy our rights) or Socialist (they hate the idea of free enterprise) and godless (they want to destroy all religion).
The truth is there are horrible, stupid people on both the Right and the Left. But painting everyone with a broad brush, not seeing that the extremes are not the average doesn't move us anywhere. Not that people should compromise with what they view as wrong, but no one is listening to anyone so how can the compromise on anything?
And the politicians are slinging mud at each other.
The fact that anyone would take anything they hear in an advertisement seriously, let alone a political ad, is a sad commentary on the state of the county.
Which brings me to a political theory I have been developing for a while now:And I'm not sure who is in power and who isn't, because they are all insane.Jane's Law: The devotees of the party in power are smug and arrogant. The devotees of the party out of power are insane.
The Democrats know people are pissed about health care reform and trying (and in some cases succeeding) to run away from their support of it.
The Republicans are trying to convince everyone one they didn't mean it when they enacted some of the biggest entitlement programs in history under Bush 2. Give them another chance and they will really be fiscally conservative this time.
Since no one is listening to anyone, it's too much to assume they are listening to me.
