MONCKS CORNER -- Cecil Barwick was home alone inside his Stony Landing home Wednesday morning when police say he heard voices and footsteps from upstairs.

The 50-year-old man grabbed his handgun and quickly came face to face with one of the men who broke into his house and had been rifling through his belongings upstairs.

The guy who got shot, died, and second guy was arrested a short while later. This makes three bad guys off the street.

As for the homeowner:

"We're not going to charge him. We're not looking at charging him. We don't have any thoughts of charging him," [Moncks Corner Police Lt. Wendell] Bowen said. He said they're still investigating why the thieves targeted that house.
