On The Subject of Justifiable Shootings

A Sunday afternoon shooting in Palm Bay has been ruled self-defense and it is the shooting victim who will face charges, police said today.

The guy who got shot was there to "see" his ex-girlfriend, and he forced his way into a home where he was not welcome and not wanted.

The guy who got shot "is currently on federal probation for drug-related charges."

So a known felon forces his way into your home. What do you do?

I wonder if Palm Bay gave this case the "20 hours" that Minnesota Public Radio thinks is required. Once all the players have been identified, I think it would take about 15 minutes to decide this is justified. (Or less.)

Oh, and the guy who got shot...

[He] is in stable condition and once he is released from a local hospital he will face charges of kidnapping, burglary and battery, [a police spokeswoman] said.

Or maybe the homeowner should have retreated and left to woman to discuss things with her violent ex? Or maybe not.
