New Jersey has a problem

Philadelphia Inquirer | 08/28/2005 | Bears on comeback throughout the state And it isn't just the bear hunt...

1400 reported incidents involving bears (up from 900 a year ago). Mothers having to "rescue" their children from bears. Farmers whose berry crops are being destroyed. And the good people are not sure if there should be a hunt or not.

OK, that's their call. But when a woman is cornered in her basement by a bear, when children are menaced in their yards, I think the situation has reached a point where the citizens should be allowed to go armed.

But maybe that is just me. PETA would say that the life of the child is not worth more than the life of the bear, but then PETA are a bunch of ignorant bastards.
