South Dakota Moves to Eliminate “Duty to Retreat”

AP Wire | 02/06/2006 | Self-defense bill advances Out of committee and to the full state senate.
Deadly force - without a requirement to retreat - may be used if people are defending themselves in their homes, businesses, public areas and other places where it's legal to be, [Rep. Alan Hanks, R-Rapid City] said.

"Anybody who feels threatened has the ability to protect yourself," Hanks said.
This article contains no quote from the Brady Bunch or like organizations. One state senator (on the committee) voted against sending the legislation to the full senate. Steve Sibson said the law goes "too far." He doesn't say why.
