Now UK Police Are Sorry They Didn't Do Their Job

Daily Express: The World's Greatest Newspaper I don't know if this is an improvement or just another way to deflect blame for what happened.
A senior Met Police officer has apologised to the family of a young father shot dead after standing up to a gang of youths in the same road where he was stabbed just months earlier.
Peter Woodhams was killed by a youth gang that the police had basically refused to confront over a 5 week period.

Before the apology, the cops were hiding behind bureaucratic weasel-wording. So this may actually be an improvement. Though they are still being bureaucratic. I guess the British police just can't help it. They really aren't allowed to fight crime, not effectively anyway. [KABA]
