Police Arrest in Obvious Self-Defense Case

Choking woman stabs boyfriend, police say He comes to a hotel room, beats her, kicks her, won't let her leave, and chokes her almost to unconsciousness, before she stabs him.
The man grabbed her by the throat and slammed her against a wall, choking her until she almost blacked out, the report said. Cortez tried again to leave and grabbed a knife, but the man continued to hit her. She stabbed him in the side then called authorities, the report said.
What do the police do? They arrest her, of course, for attempted murder.

A magistrate let Christine Cortez out of jail, ruling there was no cause to hold her.

And people wonder why we need the "Stand Your Ground" laws. There is no way she should have been arrested for defending herself.
