Another Case of Someone in the Wrong House?

Cloverdale man fatally shoots intruder ** Updated ** OK, A guy gets into a fight at a party and leaves. He comes back, but he comes back to the wrong house - it was next door.
The owners of the home next door to the party were awakened just before 3 a.m. by the man, who was jumping on the hood of their car. When the male homeowner opened a window and told the man to get off the car, the man walked to the house and tried to open its front door. Then the couple called 911.

Finding he couldn't open the door, the man smashed a front window of the home with a five-gallon water bottle and entered the house holding the bottle.

He followed the couple to their bedroom, and the male homeowner shot the intruder just outside the bedroom door. He died in the house.
This guy didn't die for being mad or being in a fight or even breaking in. He died because his behavior constituted a reasonable threat and the people he threatened, defended themselves.

Update: The police in this case seem to be on the right page.
“What the Steckmyers went through was very traumatic. It was definitely a very scary incident,” [Robert Giordano of the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department] said. “I'm just glad they're OK. I'm sorry the suspect lost his life.”
The goblin - who has not been identified - was shot multiple times ("less that six").
