$25 Fine for Causing Death

Allentown Officer Fined $25 For Causing Collision That Killed Boy - Local News Story - WCAU | Philadelphia An officer caused a crash by not looking at the road while driving, looking at the computer in his car checking an address.
On Wednesday, state police announced that while responding to a 911 call about a man with a gun, Allentown police Officer Brett Guth ran a red light at the intersection as he was looking down at his patrol car computer, checking an address.

They said when he looked up he slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. The rookie officer's patrol car broadsided another police cruiser, sending it sailing through a crowded sidewalk, and into Legrande, killing him instantly.
I wonder if talking on the cell phone while driving is illegal in PA. Better add a law making it illegal to use your computer while driving. But then it wouldn't apply to the police anyway.

Do you really think one of the "little people" would not be charged with vehicular manslaughter? Or something? I guess this gets filed under "professional courtesy."
