Armed Robber Dead

Cop waiting in line kills 7-Eleven robber | Philadelphia Daily News | 09/29/2007 I've gotten flak for all the negative stuff on police - and there has been a lot in the news lately. Here is a story of a cop in the right place at the right time to stop a criminal.
Reeves, of Mountain Street near 22nd, brandished a gun and demanded money from the cashier's drawer, Vanore said.

But an unidentified on-duty narcotics officer happened to be in the right place at the right time. Vanore said the cop was waiting in line to buy bottled water when Reeves attempted to rob the cashier.

"The officer confronted the male and discharged his weapon,"
I have to add a bit of snark for shopkeeper. The store in question was robbed four times in one month.

Having surveillance cameras installed does not constitute self-defense. Though they are no doubt helpful after the fact, but that isn't the same as defense.
His store now has 16 surveillance cameras and he said the South Philadelphia neighborhood "has a heavy police presence."

"How much more can you protect yourself?" Emmanuel asked. "I'm not going to buy a gun; one gun is too many."
Since he is on record as not being willing, or able, to defend himself, I expect he will be robbed again, by people obscuring their identity so as to evade the wrath of the camera.
