Even in front of police HQ, you have to defend yourself

Update: This isn't a dig against police, just a realization that crime happens in seconds, and in those few seconds you are on your own.

Four assailants approached the 36-year-old victim from Troy, who had just gotten into his car after a dinner out with a friend.

When [the dead guy] brandished a gun, police said, the Troy man fired several shots with a handgun in apparent self-defense.
