When the robber came into the store with a .22, the store owner picked up a .45 and chambered a round.
"It's not the right store to hold up. He found that out," said [Tony] Tavarez. "He came straight in with his gun drawn pointed at my face. It was total instinct. I thought I was going to get shot, so I figured I might as well defend myself. I was sitting down and I started to get up and I already had my gun drawn and he heard me chamber a round and he said, 'Oh, (expletive deleted).' "Police say Tavarez will not be charged. His gun was legal, and he is a town constable.
I wish I could say they caught this goof-ball, but he escaped.
