Good Guys 2, Bad Guys 0

montgomeryadvertiser.com:: Man thwarts burglary by shooting out tire So you come home to meet the cable guy and find 2 guys ransacking your home, what do you do?
"The man came home, and there was a strange car in his driveway, with the door open," said Capt. Joe Sedinger, lead investigator with the Autauga County Sheriff's Office. "He went to his front door, and it slammed. He heard people running in the house, and he continued inside as they ran out the back door."

Sedinger said the homeowner, whose identity was not disclosed, grabbed his shotgun and confronted the suspects as they rounded the house, dropping the ill-gained fruits of their criminal labor as they tried to get away from the angry, gun-wielding resident.

"They told him they were looking for somebody that owed them money," he explained. "They jumped in their car and took off, and he shot the back tire out."
While they had to stop and change the tire, the police were able to locate them, and arrest them. Sheriff's police believe this arrest stopped a string of recent burglaries.

I love the attitude of the Sheriff in this case, Herbie Johnson.
"I commend him," the sheriff said. "A person has a right to protect himself, his family and his property. These people were in his home, uninvited, and they were there to do wrong. If more people would protect their property like this man did, it would cut down on the number of these burglaries."
...
"I told him that I was sending the UPS truck to his house next week," Johnson said. "I told him I was going to order him a case of ammo."
Police and law abiding citizens need to work together if we are to reduce crime. Hats off to Sheriff Johnson.
