Going to the Police Didn't Keep Her Safe

Woman told police someone wanted to kill her In fact she filled two reports that someone she had been in a relationship with wanted to kill her and her children.
Carol Ditmyer told police Wednesday, Dec. 10, someone wanted to kill her.

Little more than 24 hours later, Ditmyer was in a hospital bed recovering from several gunshot wounds.
The first report was filed in Nov.

The ex-boyfriend was found dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

People need to learn the meaning of "It's over." People need to learn that just because you want something (or someone) occasionally you are going to be disappointed. It isn't the end of the world. It isn't worth killing yourself. It really isn't worth killing (or trying) someone else.

Having a gun of her own may not have kept Ms. Ditmyer safe, but relying on "the system" failed her completely, and it is surprising it didn't cost her life.
