That is only in the state of Ohio.
COLUMBUS — Ohio deer hunters have donated more than 95,500 pounds of venison to local food banks so far this deer season, according to Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife. There was one more weekend of gun hunting and 8 weeks of archery hunting left after this article was published.
This is up from 54,800 pounds during the prior year.
That is a lot of hungry people getting a high-protein, low-fat meal. Don't know how the venison is processed, but it is one of my favorite meals.
